Yes! :-) I started in 1983 when the prefix letter indentifier started. I lost interest once the numbers came in

Hurrah!
I used to know the registration county of every pair of identifying letters too.
Nowadays I only know those of counties I live in/near and those I visit regularly. Largely because the way that cars are bought and sold and moved around the country by dealers, and pre-registered in one area then moved and sold in other areas, makes knowing such information utterly redundant.
We did this as kids. Bragging rights for the one who spotted the first new car.
I remember as a boy on holiday in Ireland sitting outside my Nan's house & watching all the cars travelling to & from the border with Northern Ireland. We'd each pick a colour & see who got the most. I recall there were a hell of a lot of VW Beetles and vans there during the early seventies.

Posted by Debster on 1 August, 2014 at 3:06 PMI used to love spotting the new reg plates, spotting the first was a bragging right for a day or two

I saw a '14' today, but couldn't work out if it was new or had been around for some months?
Here today via the DG link ;-)

Posted by rashbre on 2 August, 2014 at 2:49 PMduh - sorry about the repeating comment. Something went very strange when I tried to post.
Posted by rashbre on 2 August, 2014 at 2:50 PM14s came out on March 1st rashbre. 64s will be out on September 1st.
Sorry about the comments problems. I suspect you are on an iPad? Are you the same rashbre as the one who existed years ago?
Posted by Blue Witch on 2 August, 2014 at 2:54 PMYes, us too, and we knew the local letters, but perhaps not every county.
