Comments: Namely

I wish people would make the subject of the email clear in the subject line and also in the title of any attachments. I've a colleague who usually entitles emails 'Instant' - whatever that means, and it's impossible to track back to any particular matter.

Once, the Rector's secretary sent out a list of who was who in the group of parishes, and the attachment was called 'Ben gen' - as in benefice. Ha sodding ha. A few weeks later, I had to spend ages trawling around for it as the title was useless.

I just mark the companies you describe as spam, and don't bother to unsubscribe. I reckon it only marks the address they use as live and they'll probably sell on the contact.

Any company who sells on my details is instantly identifiable to me as I always use a [company in question]@{my domain].co.uk name for transactions. That's the joy of using one's own domains for email. It's only happened twice in 15 years (to my knowledge) though.

I'm with Z on this one. All complete spam (and this includes any which feature $ signs) go straight to a "Junk" folder which I look at and delete. All the ones from companies I have bought from but don't want their weekly/daily updates go to a folder called "Bacn" which I glance at occasionally. I don't trust "unsubscribe" buttons, they just prove you exist.
