Comments: Carbon dioxide

And yet volcanoes pump out far more than anything else

Ah, that old myth again. See, for example:

http://www.skepticalscience.com/volcanoes-and-global-warming.htm

http://news.discovery.com/earth/weather-extreme-events/volcanoes-co2-people-emissions-climate-110627.htm

Current figures (depending on source) are that humans are making 100 to 135 times more than volcanoes.

Don't forget that plants emit CO2 as well, although they absorb more than they emit - until they die, anyway. See e.g.http://scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.php?key=826

And of course you wouldn't dream of flying anywhere, would you? Any more than you would want to use a car to get somewhere?

Come down to earth, and recognise that our lifestyle is completely based upon the combustion of carbon based fuels, at least for the present. Even yours.

Temp, that was exactly what I was getting at when I said, "Makes you wonder if all that energy-saving and recycling is actually worthwhile, doesn't it?"

And also why I laugh at the people who fly and then give money for trees to be planted in monoculture areas of the 3rd world to 'offset' the CO2 emissions (the only thing that does is make the companies preying on guilt rich, and the 3rd world farmers dependent on a single-source income poorer).

And why I laugh at 'carbon neutral' transport companies, and people who claim to be 'green' as they burn wood for heating.

We're on a path to destruction of the Earth, without a shadow of a doubt. The only question is, "How long?"

So the squashes are a metaphor for the eventual fate of the earth, see what you did there....

PS What did you make with them? Doorstops, or was there still edible flesh inside?

They were totally devoid of anythign Gordonl including weight!

It was the 'carbon capture' referring to the picture that was meant to strike you. I try, I really do ;)
