Comments: The Truth is Out There

Ah, you youngsters! Didn't think you were counting on the state pension to tide you over, BW.

We're not AQ. I doubt there will be any universal state pensions by then. And it's about time that (a) people woke up to that fact, and (b) the governmint started warning people and stopped giving them false hope...

Mind you, if people have to work until they are 67/68 or even older, most of them will drop dead while they are still at work anyway.

(I'll be linking back to this comment in the future, just as I feel like linking back to my pre-2008 rantings/prophecies on out-of-control personal debt and the badly-regulated banking sector - which now seem to be ensconced in the new film The Big Short).

I'm incredibly 'meh' about the whole thing because like you I have to wait longer before I get the State Pension because of the ever-changing rules, and also like you I have said many times that by the time I get there, it probably won't exist.

Except in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland GoodTwin. Don't forget the anti-England age discrimination that no-one mentions.

As well as free prescriptions, people in non-England UK still get free bus passes at 60 rather than whatever their state pension age now is (oh, except London who still dish out Freedom Passes at 60 - given that people who can afford to live in London at 60 and are in work are likely to be at the peak of their earning; this is insane).

Freedom Passes in London are tied to the state pension age, but one of Boris's re-election wheezes was to introduce in 2012 a 60+ Travelcard (valid in London only) to tide people over the increasing gap. TfL fund that, not the borough councils directly. Effectively the same, but that's the detail. Expensive people, Mayors!

I have never seen an episode of the X Files...which is strange as I would have assumed it's the sort of show that might appeal to me.....or is it some government conspiracy/alien thingy that has wiped my mind?

"Watch the Skies."

The trouble is that whilst our eyes are focused upon the heavens the buggers are up to no good here on earth.
