Comments: The Other Side

How terrifying. I am so glad you got safely to your accommodation. Travel home safely both of you.

Oh my God! Seeing violence like that is as shocking as being physically attacked. How are you both doing now?

Wow. I'm very glad you two are okay. That must have been tough, and no doubt still weighs on your minds. Please stay safe.

Thanks - it was an interesting experience, but what was most interesting is what happened after, and other people's reactions, then and since.

I remain frustrated and annoyed at the police telling us everything was fine - either they'd been improperly briefed, or they were incompetent. I'm also fairly annoyed with the lady who runs the place where we're staying, who asked what we were doing but didn't warn us that it was the day of the SONA, and that it would be better to go into the city on a diferent day.

Perhaps the number of police and closed roads and suspended parking around should have been a warning sign - but they do that all the time in London, for all sorts of reasons.

I'm glad you're ok. It is remiss of people failing to warn you about potential trouble. I've been working with a girl who is moving out to Cape Town this coming April & I mentioned this to her. Her boyfriend is a local there so I guess he will know where is safe where to avoid.
