Comments: 8 weeks and 2 days without precipitation

Had a wet Sunday but it's stopped and the fish pond is still down

Likewise here: it poured all day on Sunday and we had a couple of showers yesterday. Possibly a couple of inches in total and the grass looks slightly relieved.

We finally had 20mm on Sunday...also after 8 weeks with absolutely nothing. It kept narrowly missing us....

Alex put up a picture of his van thermometer the other day and it was 41ยบ - that was not official, of course, as it was in the sun, but it was certainly hot. And it's been warm today, once the thunderstorm cleared up, but I miss the heatwave. Water is fine, Anglian Water doesn't normally do hosepipe bans and they've said one isn't in the pipeline (!) now.

We seem to be having a pretty normal summer over here, but the lawn does have some brown spots from heat/dry from a few weeks ago. Everything looks well in your pictures, are you watering daily?

I can't imagine how hard it must be to keep your commercial flowers watered NiC.

We have several auto-watering systems Scoakat (saves water waste, gets it to the roots, where it is needed), and use grey water too. We couldn't hope to keep up with watering the greenhouses and polytunnel, as well as the balcony veg and the neediest flowers (eg daturas) any other way. Also lots of 2 litre cut-down plastic bottles near the courgettes, to give them extra water.

Interesting, I'd like to learn more about your watering system. You must have written about it before, perhaps my memory lapses.

Indeed Witchy.....a lot of it is now on a watering system but since we've doubled our growing area this year there's still the last Dahlia growing area to be completed. I't only about 120 watering cans to water that bit though so not much of an issue! Ha!

Currently looking at bringing the well into use too.
