Comments: Thought for the day

Absolutely spot on BW. I no longer watch the news or read newspapers and social media is truly awful. Lies, smears, bullshit peddled by all sorts. I have never felt so disconnected from what is really going on as it is difficult to trust what is being peddled by the media. The past three months has seen my focus elsewhere and tbh I prefer to look at cat videos and connect with fellow modellers on line.
Friends of mine who live abroad really think we've lost our minds in this country when they look at the media but I just say when you peel that away most of the public is bewildered, amused or just plain sick of the media nonsense and thoroughly sick of Brexit.
To paraphrase Terry Thomas, what an absolute shower!

I haven't watched or listened to news for a few years. Now, I don't read the news in the papers either, to protect myself.

Couldn't agree more, BW. Moreover, what the BBC regards as news is more appropriate to a weekly magazine rather than a news programme.

For example, there seems to be slot on the morning news each day which concerns itself with individual hard luck stories, frequently (I nearly said invariably) about some female health problem which surely is not going to be of national importance.

My Wife and I have dubbed this slot as the "should we be concerned?" slot, and, the answer being no, usually turn it off.

Too much pushing of individual viewpoints without any regard to the views of the other side. And statistics? 99% of them are just plain wrong, including this one.
