Happy birthday Mr BW. Hope you have a fantastic day with lots of chocolate. Xx

Thank you.
We had a lovely day out, a walk in a garden followed by fish and chip lunch at a pub we found a year ago which does the best gluten free fish and chips.

Finished off with a visit to an old family friend who lives nearby. In her mid 90s, facing leg amputations due to circulation but still planning for how temporary ramps will let her get around after all is sorted out, an inspiration to positivity.

And now time for another slice of chocolate cake made by my lovely BW.

I admire how you guys live. I try to do my best, but I could do more. Now, with an influx of long-overdue funds, what do you think will change for you?

Cheers, Mr BW!

Thank you Scoakat.

Strangely we had the same conversation and the answer was simple, absolutely nothing.

We have always lived within our means, which is why I was able to retire early.

Our cars are 6 and 7 years old respectively and until they start to cost more money than it is sensible to spend we will keep them. They are simply 'moderns' use to get around to do the things we want to do. We both have absolutely zero interest in cars for status or anything else really.

It is true to say that you only don't have to worry about money when you have enough, but our 'enough' is I think much less than many people consider is required to 'be happy'.

My phone came from Aldi. It cost £70 3 years ago and I have no intention of buying a new one until it breaks. I simply don't understand the need to buy the latest Iphone for £700 and then buy another in a year because Apple wants me to.

We are just lucky that we are both wired the same way.

My phone cost £22.85, new, six years ago. A charge still lasts 10 - 14 days. It still does absolutely everything I require.

Happy belated Birthday Mr BW!

Also congratulations on finally accessing your funds. It sounds like you both have the right attitude to living life. Local, at your pace and what you want to do rather the silly trends the media like to sell the general public.

I'm late to the celebrations, sorry My BW and I'm glad you had a lovely birthday. I've been busy with accounts.

The Sage was obliged to take an annuity, which was laughably small because he elected to have me receive it too if he died. Two tiny flats in islington are my saviours. A lot of anxiety that I can do without, but more than half my income.
