Comments: Sunday snowday

The bigger supermarkets boast of the data-mine they hold via loyalty cards, so Sainsbury’s should know that I have had a delivery every Wednesday at 7am for over three years now. But not any more.....I am in the vulnerable group, and emailed Sainsbury’s copies of various documents to confirm that - to no avail it seems.

NLW - yes, T£$co's did exactly the same with Mummy Mr BW. I am truly appalled at the way supermarkets have treated older and vulnerable customers.

Sounds like Coven Nord is closer to my weather here! I've had the same issue with grocery delivery. We've been doing it with Hy-Vee since they started it here but there's no consideration for that. And when we do get a slot only half of the order is fulfilled. This may take time to pass, but I hope it settles down soon.

With you on Aldi wines. Their Philizot 2014 Vintage Champagne is delicious and a bargain - also looks good too, as the bottle is clear glass. We've been having their wines delivered for quite a while now; disappointed to read here about their sellout.

I'm very lucky to live here where there are small independent food shops. I've emailed an order to the greengrocer and deli, which I'll pay for over the phone and drive in to collect, by appointment. The fishmonger calls on a Monday and I have always had the milkman, even though I don't use much milk and buy other things to make it worth his while. There's also a whole food shop and another fishmonger to order from and the farm to buy milk from (I gave you one of their bottles once, their Baron Bigod cheese is award-winning). In many places, these services just don't exist any more.

What does puzzle me though is, even where they do, a lot of people still keep going to supermarkets. There are farm shops that have all food you might need within a short distance, but people are still panicking because Tesco doesn't have chickens and you're only allowed three carrots.

I'm so glad you're happy, even if exhausted and wineless.
