Comments: How long does it take for a garden nurtured for almost 25 years to turn wild?

Your post deserves at least one comment - especially the last paragraph.

But here, the traffic is building up again already. Unfortunately, it cannot last - unless, somehow, we can all learn from this experience.

With all the massive amount of work you've been able to do in the last weeks, your health must have improved a lot. I hope this carries on, you've had some rough years.

Beautifully written post, a pleasure to read.

Thanks Temp and Z.

I'm always better in sunny weather, Z (we'd just come back from a month in SA and it's been glorious in the north), and away from the noise and 'local threats' of the south. Nevertheless, I do tend to use 'we' when it's actually Mr BW doing 90%+ of the physical stuff and me doing the fluffing, admin, and project management - planning and acquiring supplies - stuff. I can do that from a supine position. And occasionally I have to have a whole day in bed doing nothing. I guess I know how to manage things better these days - once I'd finally managed to give up the mental idea of ever getting back to how I used to be (which involved letting go of a lot of 'if I only work and try hard enough I can beat this thing' ideas, and learning to say 'no' to a lot of people and their demands), I stopped the 'boom and bust' that was so debilitating and demanding of physical energy that my body can't produce. But, I can feel that the past few days are about to take their toll...

I don't have your physical problems but I have learned to walk away and say no. I don't feel guilt any more about that, which is the great bonus of despair, once one is on the way up again.

Yes. As it has said in the sidebar since early 2003, "Philosophy of The Coven:
Wisdom begins with questioning. Sanity begins with "No.""
