Comments: Creased not smoothed

Here in Norfolk, it's a nice sunny afternoon, with not much more than a breeze.
Given your love of solar power at Coven Sud, whilst I imagine you're now too far north for that to be worthwhile, it sounds as if you're in exactly the right spot for a private wind turbine. You may have missed the FIT boat, but the SEG is going now!

Put a towel on the table like everyone else and iron on top of that.

I don't iron tea towels but most stuff gets ironed. Usefully, while my cleaners haven't been visiting, they have done ironing so I've sent them the stuff that is a bother, ie duvet covers, tablecloths and Tim's shirts. I do my own stuff and the easy things. Once they're cleaning again later this month, I'll be stuck with the ironing again, except Tim's shirts which he will do eventually.

Going backwards over here. More cases every day so back to more restrictions. People seem to want their regular lives back even though it may be the death of them.

@Z - There must be some mistake. My shirts haven't been ironed since I retired a few years ago!

Tim - I'd missed the intro of the SEG, although I knew there was a scheme coming to pay for surplus generated power, so thanks for the info. We have a perfectly aligned roof, with no overshadowing, so solar may be a possibility, once we have sold Coven Sud.

A neighbour has a small wind turbine, so we must talk to him about that, but I think it will actually be too windy up on this ridge and it will spend a lot of time turned off as the wind is too strong. Plus, wind turbines need a lot of expensive maintenance, as Farmer Friend we used to stay with has told us. On an early FIT it is manageable, but with just a 'buy the surplus' offer now, it would probably be unviable.

Scoakat - am I correct in thinking that there is no government support scheme for jobs in the US, other than the regular unemployment benefits? That, plus the attitude of President Duck, and early-release in certain states, must go some way towards explaining the behaviour.

You're thinking is correct, BW. Oh, there are other government programs, if you qualify, but nothing for something like this. A president that won't set a good example, states opening early and people who, well, I'd like to explain it but I just don't know what people are thinking.

You iron tea towels???????????

Posted by allotmentqueen on 7 July, 2020 at 1:15 AM

The tea towels are largely linen or cotton AQ, so need ironing. Also, it is recommended by public health bodies that tea towels are ironed to kill bacteria that linger after washing.

Z's ironing duvet covers on the other hand... ;)

Never mind Scoakat, I hear Kanye West is running for President. If Arnie can successfully transition...

Quite a few were out drinking over the weekend. They certainly weren't in the local cemetery when we went for our walk Sunday afternoon (we live Inner City, it is a local open space with Nature, & grey squirrels.) Until now it's been packed sunny days.

Yesterday (Tues) a local pub reported a Case, told all the visitors, & closed for a Deep Clean, entirely off their own bat - like the 3 others reported.

Yesterday we spent very pleasantly behind a holm oak bush on the beach, it was breezy (hence behind the bush) but Very Nice, and away from potential infectors. Yay, shingle beaches getting recolonised by plants!

I avoided going out to be honest and certainly not near any pubs. I have noticed the roads are very busy and our workload has suddenly increased.
Life is too short for ironing.
