That's sad Debster - what happened?

Wooden filing box of (anything)!!!? Why not simply scan the lot? Easily portable, accessible anywhere (if using cloud storage), and - best of all - searchable.

It's very small Tim - index card size, about 2 foot long, all in alphabetical order. An old library index card box.

I don't like cooking from a screen.

Actually, I don't like doing much from a screen (poor eyesight, tendency to eye strain and visual stress from screens). Nothing can beat hard copy.

I don't have the time or inclination to scan/categorise everything. And as for cloud storage - never.

As far as tech goes, I am stuck in the 1990s and happy to be so. I have a new PC at Coven Nord that arrived in May. I have yet to set it up, despite my old PC being frustratingly slow, and the (external) photo drive being full (and the ones with a file format that will work with it are no longer available, so I can't just buy a new one).

The only disadvantage to not having kids/grandkids that I have yet found is not having bodies to do stuff like this.

A charade? Get settled in Coven Nord then maintain Coven Sud, use it as a seasonal home, vacation rental, Air BNB. You can maintain two residences 300 miles apart, surely? ;) Okay, that may be a bit much, but I'm sure you'll miss it when the day comes.

(Sorry to hear, Debster, I hope your okay!)

She went down hill rapidly and the vet reckoned something was pressing on her spine. But she'd been unwell for years with a dicky tummy and arthritis and bad teeth.

So sorry to hear Debster. Hope you're coping OK without her. They leave a huge hole in our lives don't they?

Scoakat - yes, at present it's still gaining in value more than it's costing us every month. At present. But, development is coming and threatening on every front. Locally the long-term Local Plans for both neighbouring Districts have been thrown out on Inspection, and new government numbers for homes that are required to be built in each District are 84% more than the last lot. Which were already beyond what can be accommodated without changing the landscape and everyone's lifestyles totally.
