Comments: Storing up

Italian sparklers: I quite agree. Franciacorta, produced metodo classico, is sublime compared to most prosecco, produced metodo Coca-Cola.
I am increasingly apprehensive about what awaits us on January 1. As DG said the other day, "You’ve assumed for months that 2020 was as bad as it gets. You may have assumed wrong…"

Tim - I shuddered again when I read that quoted sentence. I know it's now 'modern parlance' but I do prefer 'wrongly' in that context. (Sorry DG, but I haven't noticed an incorrect less/fewer from you for ages, so one must take one's Grammar Police pleasures where one can ;))

I still have 19 tins of tuna, 17 cans of beans and 7 incorrectly-used adverbs stashed away for emergency use in the new year.

MBWLA DG :) (and trust me, that's not easy at the moment, with holes in the ceiling and dehumidifiers running non-stop after last week's flood)

We've only just got to the end of the Parmesan I bought at beginning of lockdown 1. Must get more.

Jack Monroe did a useful Brexit stockpile list on her blog back in November 2018. She also gives the "why" e.g. particular vitamins, etc.

You have to scroll down a bit: https://cookingonabootstrap.com/2018/11/15/stockpiling-for-brexit/

Jack Monroe did a useful list on her blog back in 2018 when we thought it was imminent then. She also explains why - vitamins, minerals, etc. You have to scroll down a bit for the list itself:
