Comments: Why I haven't been here

Skiing kitties! Still not a flake here. It's been raining a lot though.

All the "Sounds of the..." were replaced last weekend by a musicals special. It's a one-off, they won't be back, thankfully.

(and only a month's worth are ever available, so if you want to save some for posterity I recommend the traditional cassette-off-the-radio method)

Always good to know the current state of your tits :-)

Good news - our local Jimmy the Groundhog predicted an early spring this year!

Do you have anything as inane as our Groundhog Day over there?

DG - thanks... but how do you know they won't be back? The outcry? Mr BW has a little collection of JWs that we have taken on holidays. I've often wondered why they only last 30 days when eg Desert Island Discs have every episode ever produced?

Scoakat - no, but some would say it's every day in recent times...

Very mild winter here, but wet. All the water meadows are thoroughly flooded, water table is high and it wouldn't take much for disaster to strike as it did locally on Christmas Eve.

I'm far too unobservant to check on birds, but the seagulls on the roof are annoying considering how far we are from the sea.

Thank you for such a comprehensive update. If you weren't made for such weather, however, I'm not sure I would have chosen to move up north!
I touch-type, but actually prefer a clicky keyboard.
@DG: There are free programs these days which will record your computer sound output (and even video if you want), which have +more long-term reliability than cassettes!

Z - we have seagulls too, and we're even further from the sea than you. Interesting that it's mild where you are, because at Coven Sud (by all accounts, and from long-distance gadget monitoring) it is definitely much colder than normal, as well as very much wetter.

Tim - moving up north was the only way to escape development, people and road and aircraft noise. This weather is quite exceptional. I don't mind 'weather', would prefer to have contrasts between the seasons, and it will be lovely when the house is finished, but right now it is just stopping us doing the things that need to be done. And as for cassettes - would that life were still that simple.

Whilst it might be chilly up here, our planned trip south this weekend to tend to the bees is now put back by a week due to forecast snow and -3 degrees down there.
