Comments: Red weather alert

Wow you are having it rough there BW 😢. Unreliable workmen and fixtures don’t help. We are ok, lots of trees down around and about and the prom and surrounding streets appear to have more sand than the beach does. But we came through with no damage thankfully. Will ring Wednesday. We are supposedly off to Harrogate with DD tomorrow for a couple of nights. As the roads are flooded and trees down should be an interesting journey.

Thanks Amber, and enjoy Harrogate if you get there.

Current estimated time of restoration of power: 11.15am tomorrow morning. 7°C and falling inside, below zero, plus wind chill outside. Bottle 2 of red currently open...

And the electric whisk worked, to beat the eggs for an omelette, albeit very, very, very slowly.

South Coast windy, cold and damp. Gusts of 81mph measured of the Needles - windiest place for miles.
Otherwise this south coast suburb is ok. Winds dropping, temperatures outside dropping. Indooors ok. Sometimes there are advantages to living in/very near a city.

But we got a few solar rechargeable lamps back when electricity firms started failing. They've already proved their worth.

Hoping things improve markedly and soon where you are

We've got off well here (Norfolk). No storm! Glad to hear that you have your priorities sorted (aka wine!). There must be some isolation switching mechanism whereby you could choose between mains electricity vs generator/battery?

It was very windy yesterday with some huge sudden gusts and very wet at times alternating with hailstones. Cold but I don't believe temperatures dropped below zero.
Currently it is calm and the rain has stopped.

Stay safe and warm and imbibe of the bottled liquid sunshine!

Got down to 0°C here in London last night and forecast for -3°C tonight but thankfully not that much in the way of wind.
Yes, I've been wondering what's supposed to happen if everything is electric. Never good to be solely reliant on one form of power.

... yes, especially when the majority of the generation companies are owned by foreign entities Caroline.

It's only a very small generator Tim, that you can plug several things into. We will have to look into better systems once the new garage is built and there is place to put it. The foundations are done but we are still waiting on the quarry cutting the stone.
