Comments: Starting the New Year Grumpily

Bloody awful noise and up until the early hours reassuring the cats.

Happy New Year!
Being used to the peace and quiet in Coven Nord wouldn't have helped cope with the industrial strength fireworks in the rapidly urbanising area around Coven Sud. It seemed less noisy this year around these parts, less money to burn.

You're right, the north/south divide is clearer every time we go down south Darren. People down south who think they are 'poor' should try living in the north east is all I can say.

Costs (of almost everything) are much more, and there is just no infrastructure, investment, or planning. But there is also no complaining or vision or demands for things to be different - so nothing moves on.

As an annual tourist for 15 years, it was quaint and amusing, now, after nearly 2 years, it is just unbelievable.

Attitudes from Local Government/LG employees, and statutory services, are stuck in the 1970s (cf the south). As you will know, having lived in London for many years.

Having "escaped" the north east 50 years ago and only visited occasionally since, it never ceases to amaze me how people's attitudes haven't changed.

Except that many of them changed their political allegiance... so causing the current political mess.
