I'm trying to project it to the partner of my Aunt who died in December.
Incredibly bright (they both reached the heights of academia and held University Chairs in a core science subject and have over 300 publications between them, including 10 books), not religious, and believes that death is final and that there is no consolation to be had anywhere.
Loves being controversial professionally, and always has an answer for everything worked out long ahead of anything anyone might ever say.
A very hard lady to help, but who reaches out and over-shares her grief with every contact. She is taxing the empathy of both me and another Aunt.
I don't think she'd like any ideas that emanate from transcendentalism though, however true they may be to her situation.
