Comments: The Sequel

I feel tired just reading that. Still so much to do for you both.

It must be wine-o-clock...

delcatto - you have to understand that Mr BW is never happy unless he is busy.

Tim - now there's an excellent thought!

You said one bit of yours didn't arrive safely - what was that (or were you meaning the concrete pipe tub?)
Anyway, well done to the guys, they surely earned their money.

Caroline - ah, I love the close readers :)

Yes, you are right, one of the 2 mirrors on the display side of the haberdashery unit (in the penultimate picture) that Mr BW had removed from the unit to make it lighter to go over the balcony to exit got broken in the 'padded stiffened bag' provided by the removal firm.

It was the last thing that came off Van 1, and Boss was absolutely mortified and couldn't have been more apologetic. He kept apologising - said he'd only broken 3 things in transit in the 11 years he'd been in business.

Given that we had no 'in transit' insurance and their contract said liability was limited to £40 per item for anything damaged, I was pleasantly surprised when he knocked £100 off the final bill, and told me to let him know if it cost any more than that to replace.

Unlike any other removal company we had approached, it was half the payment on booking, half on safe delivery, credit cards accepted, which was good.

The mirror is old (probably 80 years +) and thin, and I am amazed it was the only thing that broke in transit. As it is, a new one (in modern glass) is £36 + delivery, but I think we will just tape the 3 pieces on the back with more of the magic 3M polytunnel repair tape we used on Van 2's rear light. Even to replace both mirrors would be less than they gave me.

I think you can see all the small glass panels on the big display unit coming in through the front door and that would have been much more of a pain had it been damaged.

oh dear, I trust you've got a spell to counteract a broken mirror
