Please tell me Mr BW was wearing a red scarf ;-)

I haven't been paying attention to postmarks, but I will now. I did sign up for emails to see what to expect in the post that day, and it has come in handy when important mail was missing (found to have been delivered to the neighbor).

The Royal Mail Annual Report 2021-2022 mentions 43 sites, including all Mail Centres and Regional Distribution Centres. The 2022-2023 report mentions 37 Mail Centres. So things look fairly constant. I suppose you could get more detail from an FOI request.

Scoakat - where the US leads, Britain follows... I guess that is the future for us too.

Tim - yes, I found those too, but, like you, no list.

I'll add 'Home Counties North' and 'Cornwall Mail Centre' to the list.

Wikipedia lists the 37 mail centres at says existed in March 2021, and the Royal Mail site makes it possible to find seven Distributon Centres, Scottish, Princess Royal (in North London), National (in Northampton), South West, North West, Yorkshire, and Northern Ireland.
Perhaps the 43 total is wrong?

John - thanks. I had seen that list on Wikipedia, but I think it is of the towns where the mail centres are situated, not what they call themselves on the franks on stamps.
