There was a Mmmmm Mattessons product of that nature.

I don't recall the pate so much as smoked cheese in that sort of packaging.

Scoakat - I don't think we ever had that brand over here.

Andrew - Ah yes, it would help if I could spell! That's the right size and inner packaging, but the ones I remember didn't have an outer packaging, just a printed plastic exterior with the clips. And yes, I remember the hard processed smoked cheese in that plastic sausage too.

I now think Plumrose (not Plumsted as I thought to start with) pate came in small tins.

Why I have such an interest in pate and its packaging I have no idea, as (a) I've never eaten it anyway and (b) any pate served in my childhood home would have been home-made.

Matteson's is the one I immediately thought of from those prompts, but I don't remember their packaging so can't be sure on that score.

The only other ones I'm thinking of are Shipham's (who are still in existence) but they're jars rather than tubes.
