Whisky tumblers. I don't think the irony was recognised at the time...

And there were the world cup coins with all your favourite players. You of course had to buy the album to put them in.

I still use my tumblers. They are actually quite nice.

I remember the world cup coins. We didn't have a car so we pestered car owners at garages or the garage staff to obtain them.
We found lots of broken china in our garden when we first moved in but nothing else of note.

Thousands of Esso world cup coins still on eBay...
Somewhere I still have my original Esso tiger tail from the mid 60s. I think that might have been the first giveaway with tokens from petrol product?

I still have the full set of 50 coins from the Esso FA Cup Centenary set (1972), which was particularly impressive because we didn't have a car at the time.
And a sleek Arcoroc glass tumbler from a similar era.
I remember the Gulf gas stations had amber colored glasses. My cousin has inherited his mother’s collection of various sizes of this glassware.Mom loved the things Safeway would offer. We had a complete set of encyclopedias, a collection of classical music by famous composers and a service for six of dishes. It took her many months to gather each collection

I now have a strange vision of younger DG and younger delcatto loitering with intent around petrol stations...

I do need to know how DG got his full set of coins.

There were also the conpetitions. I can't remember who did it but there were the monopoly tiles where, if I recall, it was the red 'O' everyone needed to win the big money.

My memory may be deceiving me, but I seem to remember that Esso garages used to have a paraffin pump!

Tim, that was Esso Blue and I have an old can as a part of my garage collection.

I wonder what those comments say?

I wonder how they got through the spam filter? Several hundred per day are being caught, I guess it's just given up now.

My Great Aunt gave me some handled glass tankards (tall but slim). Had a friend around and he examined the glass we gave him, and said it was a petrol station glass.
They lasted us about 15 years, but they’re all gone now.
