We did make 'time the essence of the contract' Debster, for exactly that reason: the boxes from the conservatory (been there over 3 years) and the furniture from the living room (been there since October) need to be relocated to their proper, external, place.

Then we might have enough space to actually use those rooms, and to finally have the failing conservatory glass top replaced.

I'm not hopeful that 'time is the essence' is understood as a contract term in these parts though...

It's usually "time is of the essence", though the more I think about either version, the less either makes sense.
Or essence.

That's what we said Joho, it's just that I was tired last night when I wrote that! I agree though, it's a daft phrase.

But, they did turn up, although they shuttered it all incorrectly (angled the base to look at the house rather than at the view). Good job I didn't go out for the day as Mr BW hadn't noticed either. At least I went out to check it was all OK before they poured the concrete...
