Our excitement level is around zero. We long ago gave up giving presents. Today the tree and cards will go up. I will use the festival as an excuse to open a bottle of good Champagne. So not quite Bar Humbug!
When I read "Mr BW supplied full boxes at a suitable rate" my first thought was that he was charging you for each one!

My excitement levels are also zero. This year has bombed. Two of my children have decided to travel away for Christmas and the third has visited me for 10 days and gone home. So I'm on my own for the first time in years. I've got plenty of lovely food and of course technology for entertainment so all is well.

Christmas excitement is muted here. No decs or tree up because of the kittens and I enjoy the day itself, not the nonsensensical commercialism. Holiday adverts on TV already!

Well Royal Mail did their stuff and the Aga part has arrived. However, as it is now working on manual settings and to replace the part requires taking the controller apart (which means it doesn't work on manual either until reassembled), I have decided not to risk it. Sods law says something else will break and the Aga will be unusuable at 5pm on Xmas eve, rather than just 'fiddly' through Xmas. Goes against the grain to not just get it fixed, but I am forcing myself to wait. Instead I am currently keeping BW supplied with boxes to stage the summerhouse and making mince pies and preparing Prawn Biriani for tea. Last year it was BW keeping me stocked with food whilst I worked, this year it's the other way around.

Hope is edging out experience, at present, I'm feeling quite cheerful. Very pleased that your Aga is going to be in working order tomorrow, even if not optimal efficiency. Happy Christmas, dear Blue Witches
