Comments: End of year, end of era

Happy new year! Looking forward to creme egg season having had three Tunis cakes in December.

I never met JW, although he once replied to an email I sent to him about a speech by a native American.

He played a few requests for me over the years and was truly a part of my musical history. He played me home with his drive time show and helped create a Sunday afternoon ritual.

Whilst many deaths are met with a note of regret, JW's is met with real sadness for a man I have always considered a nice bloke with great taste in music and no ego whatsoever. RIP.

Happy New Year!

I used to enjoy JW's drive time show, always entertaining and a lovely man by all accounts.

Happy New Year to you both.
I know you sold one house, do you still have another waiting to be sold?
I'm looking out onto damp gloom which looks more like evening instead of the mid-afternoon it actually is.

Today's Times has an obituary of JW

Caroline - no, and our long-term solicitor friend has strict instructions to talk sense to us is we ever contact him again about a house buying or selling matter! The 'completion' refers to finishing off things here that we didn't have enough money to finish off before.

Mr BW and delcatto - JW was all about the music, not about him. A true legend to the end.

Joho - which is behind a paywall...

BW - I meant the paper version.
I still have it if you want it.
DM me, as those youngsters say :-)

JW once played The Who ‘Who are you?’but the version contained a particular expletive on his show. Kudos to him for playing the better version.

Yes, always about the music and the listeners.
