I have set Mr BW the challenge of making a chute that goes from the coin insertion point to the coin return point. He says he can't make a hole that long and that large in diameter in the lump of Glulam he is carving. I say there is no such word as can't.

Thruppence, a tanner and one bob.
I am definitely showing my age there.

I remember the phrase as
"Connecting you now" - rather more confident than "Trying..."
Could the chute be a "cut and cover" slot rather than a hole?

Hi Bobtail
Yes I was thinking of ways to make a 'trench' but covering it will inevitably leave 2 lines down the front. I have found a 3 ft long 40mm diameter wood bit which is arriving today. Wish me luck. Of course this also means extra complication as I have also gone from 'printing' 2 lines that look like slots, to having to cut a 2p and a 10p slot in the metal cover. The dremel isn't man enough but my angle grinder is too brutal. Chain drilling and filing looks like the best option.
And Joho, I think you are right. Before my time but yes they were more positive that they could connect you. This was before my time, but I do remember having a party line and having to check that it was free before you used it. Mind you, you could also listen in to others conversations, which was a no-no, but sometimes interesting for a 7 year old.
