Crikey (just seen photo of the 40mm drill bit!). But please call it 60cm, rather than 2 feet, long. I do wish that some government or other would complete the long-overdue metrication of the UK!

It is a bit of a beast and I did have to bolt down the wood and really hang on to my drill to avoid the cartoon like spinning around hanging on to the drill.
As to metrification, I can only say in my defence that I am making a 1970 telephone for a pre-war phonebox, so am working to period correct measurements. If only I could have bought a 1 9/16th drill bit then it would have been perfect...
Hmm just realised I am also making it to fit metric 2p and 10p, damn the contradictions.
